I haven't personally tried this with the Ascent yet. $550 for brakes sounds pretty high.

Your last post raised a few red flags though. 1. There's a 1000 mile break in period required before towing. You really should not have towed at 500 miles. 2. Brake break-in has been discussed in this forum as one of the possible causes for the warping/chattering issues. It might be hard to give the brakes an easy first 1000 miles when living in mountainous areas. Just to add my 2 cents, I have a 2020 Limited with dealer installed revision D pads with 2800 miles on them.
